For over a century, State Street has been the financial center of Boston, as well as New England. Located at 53 State Street, Exchange Place is the successful union of the historic granite and marble Boston Stock Exchange Building, with a new 41-story, reflective blue glass, modern office tower.
The buildings are connected by a magnificent 7-story, glass enclosed atrium. The entrance faces Congress Street with a grand marble stairway to the second floor featured as the centerpiece. Lobby floors are primarily of Jonesboro granite from Maine with carpeting in elevator lobbies. Lobby walls are Juperana granite from Brazil. The original Exchange Building lobby has been fully refurbished utilizing refinished, original wood facades, marble staircase, and brass chandeliers. The walls and ceilings have been re-plastered and original cornice and ceiling rosettes have been replicated.
